Community Outreach on the 29th of March

Dear YAM

We are planning to serve our community by serving the elderly at Pacific Nursing Home on 29 March 2014.

We will gather there at 2pm, and it should end by 4.15pm. We will be taking the elderly through games and craft, and basically spending time with them! The list of activities we will be engaging in is below.

We really need people to come and help, so please let us know if you are able to come, and which activities you might be able to help with.

Activities involved:
1. Egg Crate Game
Toss ping pong balls into different coloured zones on the egg crates
2. Bowling
Knock over plastic bottles, cans, milk cartons with balls
3. Trinket Box
Make a trinket/knick-knack box by glueing ice cream sticks together
4. Photo Frame Decoration
Frame up instant photos of the elderly with their friends/family
. Decorate the frames by glueing on beads etc.
5. Toss and Catch
Play ball toss and catch with the elderly
6. Memory Game
Flip pairs of cards over to match the same picture
7. Jigsaw puzzles
Large sized jigsaw pieces for the elderly to fit

Looking forward to serving God along with you.

This week's update

Hi here's this week's update, sorry for the lapse in posts:

Read Mark 14:1-72
Mark tells us about Jesus' last night with is disciples, and his trial by the Jewish court, the Sanhedrin. How to we know from Mark's account that Jesus' death was not a mistake or accident?

Jesus knew that it was his mission to die. Does that mean that death was easy for him? (see Mark 14:33-36; 15:34)

Read Mark 15:1-16:8
At the moment that Jesus died, something happened in the temple on the other side of the city (Mark 15:38). What happened.

Mark 14:50, we see the disciples deserting Jesus. In Mark 14:66-72 we see Peter repeatedly disowning him. Given all that Jesus had said about his death, why do you think they responded like this?

A Roman centurion was in charge of the crucifixion. What did he say when Jesus died? (Mark 15:39)? Why was it surprising?

Grace is when god treats us in the opposite way to what we deserve. It is something we don't deserve. Peter disowned Jesus 3 times. How do you think Peter would have felt when he was given the message of Mark 16:7? Why?
